the situation in the country is developing in the
right direction, the necessary order is being instilled and there is
no menace to the democratic achievements, as 55% of respondents
identify. 20% of respondents, however, adhere to the opposite
viewpoint, stating that there has appeared a real menace to
democracy and the danger of a military-police regime being imposed.
the share of respondents supporting the first point of view has
grown if compared to the data obtained in 2004 (from 51% up to 55%),
whereas the portion of people who assume that the second version is
right, has simultaneously reduced (from 30% down to 20%).
the country needs stability, as well as reforms
of evolutional character, as 55% of respondents assume. 29% do not
agree with this viewpoint; but rather think that the country
requires significant changes and cardinal reforms in its economic
and political life. the number of "conservatives" has increased
(from 50% up to 55%) during the last four years, and the share of
"radical reformers" has reduced in the same period of time (from 39%
down to 29%).
nevertheless, every second respondent (51%)
favours a revision of the results of privatization that took place
in the 90-ties, considering it to have been unfair and illegal in
many respects. less than a third of respondents (29%) oppose a
revision like that, as it may lead to severe conflicts in the
society. if compared with the data obtained in january 2004, the
share of respondents who oppose a revision of privatization results
has decreased (from 36% down to 29%), the share of those who find it
hard to provide an answer to this question has increased
simultaneously (from 13% up to 20%).
all the people living in russia should have equal
rights and opportunities, as half of respondents specify (51%).
those who think that our state should, first of all, represent the
interests of the russian people, are also quite numerous (37%).
it is necessary to strictly limit entrance to
russia for citizens of other countries, including other countries of
the former soviet union, as they create shortage of workplaces for
russians, aggravate the criminogenic situation in the country, etc.,
as half of respondents identify (51%). a third of respondents
adheres to the opposite point of view saying that it is not
necessary to interfere with citizens of other countries entering
russia, but rather effectively use the professional and cultural
potential of these visitors for the sake of our country. however,
the share of respondents supporting this opinion has reduced during
the last four years (from 38% down to 33%), the portion of
respondents who found it hard to provide an answer to this question
has grown simultaneously (from 10% up to 16%).
the relations that russia has with the countries
of the former soviet union should be the same as with any other
country in the world, as over half of respondents consider (56%).
one forth of respondents believe, that russia should aspire to
domination on all the territory of the former ussr. this question is
causing russians increasingly more difficulties (in 2004 there were
12% who found it hard to provide an estimation in this respect,
however, this share has now reached 19%).
